If the fowl you desire are available and for sale, you are very fortunate. But if there was ever a time to look for a bargain, this is not it. Because no breeder is going to let his best stuff go for pocket change!
Breeders Roundtable with Dino Morell
I do believe these interviews are extremely valuable, and that you will learn new ways of doing things, and benefit from the ideas and experiences that they share. Not to mention, you will obtain confirmation that in some ways you are doing just fine. Another great addition to the interviews is the questions they have for me. They are most likely the same question you would ask, or need answers to.
BECOMING AN AMERICAN GAMEFOWL BREEDER
Breeders of American Games should encourage and support those who show an interest. Show them how to breed and raise proper American Games. Take them to the shows so they can see, firsthand, all the different varieties of gamefowl that are available.
IN PURSUIT OF PERFECTION
Although it is possible to start with hybrid crosses or mongrel flocks (we teach you how in the Breeders Academy), it will take a considerable amount of time to make significant progress. It is best to start with a family of fowl that has the capacity to improve. This comes from a well-bred bloodline. Select a family that presently expresses the traits that you desire, and carry on a breeding program that will continue to improve their overall form and function.
CAN WE CREATE THE PERFECT STRAIN?
As many of you know, I’m a big fan of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World books and movie series. In fact, I like all movies that are based on science. This is especially true with the Jurassic series. I think is has to do with the creation of new life, in this case, the recreation of prehistoric dinosaurs. I like that it talks about genetic technology, such as genetic engineering, genetic modification and the use of recombinant DNA. As a breeder, I eat this stuff up!
